Ranthambore National park is situated in the district of Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan and is part of Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, a protected area spanning over 1700 square kilometres dedicated to conserving the last of the native population of arid zone tigers in India amidst the dry landscape with historical ruins in the backdrop. Ranthambore is one of the most popular wildlife destination in northern India and is easily accessible via Road and Rail with nearest major city of Jaipur being only 160 km away. The tourism season is from October to June every year and tourist can enjoy safaris in both gypsies and canter. It has 10 safari zones with zones 1-6 being the core zones while 7-10 being in buffer. Both core and buffer zones have high chances of spotting a tiger along with leopards, sloth bear, spotted deer, sambhar deer and Nilgai and over 300 species of birds. Conservation is linked to many tigers at Ranthambore like Machali, the most photographed tiger in world leading the front.

Best Time To Visit Ranthambore National Park

Ranthambore National park is an ideal year-around travel destination of India. However general tourists mostly visit Ranthambore National park between October and April as this is the time when wildlife spotting is good and weather conditions are appropriate.

From May to June, the temperature remains quite high going up to 45°C. During this period it becomes tough for visitors to do the safari. You will find mostly wildlife photographers and wildlife enthusiasts during these months.

From 1st October to 30th June, all zones of Ranthambore National Park remains open. For the remaining months only zones 6 to 10 are open, which is also subject to weather & road conditions.

How To Reach Ranthambore National Park

BY ROAD:

Ranthambore National park is easily accessible by road with number of small and big cities in India like Delhi (380 kms), Jaipur (180 kms), Agra (245 kms), Ahmedabad (687 kms), Kota (124 kms) etc.

BY RAIL:

The closest railway station is Sawai Madhopur (11 kms). It is very well connected from major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Kota, Ahmedabad etc.

BY AIR:

Jaipur, located at a distance of 180 kms is the nearest Domestic & International airport for Ranthambore National Park. One can hire cab from Jaipur to reach Ranthambore. Most of the airports in India have air connectivity with Jaipur.
