Gir National Park also known as Sasangir is the last abode of wild Asiatic lions in the world. Situated in Talala Gir, some 65 kilometres from Junagadh, it spans more than 1400 square kilometres consisting of more than 500 Asiatic lions, a population which was reduced to just handful of individuals a few decades back. Tourism season at Gir is from 16th October to 15 June every year. Along with lions, the national park consists good populations of leopards, jungle cat, spotted deer, sambar deer, nilgai, hyena, jackals and over 300 species of birds. The open scrub and deciduous forest makes the perfect setting for amazing wildlife sightings. Success of the national park goes to its hardworking forest staff that have saved such a majestic species from the brink of extinction.
On arrival check in at your lodge overlooking forest & have delicious lunch. This day we keep leisure for acclimatization. You can go for nature walk.

By Road
Gir National park is also very well connected by road to most parts of Gujarat. Junagarh is the closest city which is well connected to many other cities in Gujarat like Ahmedabad, Dwarka, Somnath and Rajkot by private buses.
By Rail
Rajkot (165 kms), Junagarh (80 kms) and Veraval (72 kms) are the nearest railhead to Gir National Park with good train connectivity across India. One can hire a cab from railway station to reach the national park.
By Air
Keshod (70 kms) and Rajkot (160 kms) are the nearest airport to Gir National Park. One can hire a cab from airport to reach the national park.
Gir National Park remains open from 16th October to 15th June. Because of monsoon, Gir National park remains closed for the remaining months.
Mostly tourists visit Gir National park between December to March as during this period weather is pleasant and cool. April & May are very hot but considered best time for wildlife photography & spotting.
