Overview

Characterised by the meadows and tall grasslands of the terai, Dudhwa national park is located in Kheri and Lakhimpur districts of Uttar Pradesh and borders Nepal from the northern side. Together with Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary and the Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary it forms the the larger landscape of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. Tigers in the terai region are quite elusive yet totally a bewildered sight. Along with tigers tigers, Dudhwa has  One Horned Rhinos, swamp deer and sambar deerbarking deerspotted deerhog deersloth bearrateljackalcivetsjungle catfishing catleopard cat along with 350 species of birds included endangered species like vultures and Bengal floricans. There are four major tourist zones each with their specific landscape and wildlife. There are Dudhwa, Sonaripur, Kishanpur and Katneriaghat. The town of Palia Kalan is the nearest to the national park.

Best Time To Visit Dudhwa National Park

Dudhwa National Park remains open for tourists from 15th November to 15th June. Dudhwa National park remains closed for the remaining months.

Winter season (November to March) is the best time to visit Dudhwa National park. Mostly tourists visit National park between these months because the climate remains cool & pleasant.

April to June are the hottest months but chances of tiger sighting increase especially around the man made waterhole & river.

Dudhwa National park is well connected from all parts of India by road. It  is easily accessible from major cities like Delhi (430 kms), Lucknow (238 kms), Bareilly (260 kms) etc. Palia (5 kms) is the closest town to the Dudhwa National Park.

BY RAIL:

Nearest railway stations are Dudhwa (4 kms), Palia (10 kms) and Mailani (37 kms).

BY AIR:

Lucknow is the nearest airport to Dudhwa National Park which is located at a distance of 235 kms. Lucknow is well connected from Delhi, Mumbai & other cities.
